Department of Epidemiology
The Department of Epidemiology integrates research, education, and public health service programs to improve the health of our community. We offer a Master's of Public Health degree and a doctoral training program, as well as dual-degree programs with VCU's schools of medicine, social work, and pharmacy. Thanks to a close partnership with the Virginia Department of Health, our students benefit from experiential learning opportunities while directly impacting population health.
PhD in Epidemiology
Students learn to become independent research scientists who can develop epidemiologic methods and conduct population-based research
Master of Public Health
Prepares students with the analytic and critical reasoning skills to improve population health through careers in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
Research
Faculty in the Department of Epidemiology collaborate with research partners across VCU to explore the intersections of behavior and physiology, and improve health outcomes. Students and postdoctoral fellows also have an opportunity to participate in this knowledge creation with a direct impact on community health.
